Amanda teaches drawing and oil painting in a relaxed and kid-friendly atelier style. She combines her training in education with her training in art to deliver sophisticated ideas and techniques in a format children can understand. Classes are designed for students who have a passion for art and have expressed the desire to draw and/or paint representationally.

 

Snacks and a break are provided in all classes. Please inform instructor of any food allergies.

The curriculum is designed to teach the student skills and techniques to create representational art. It progresses from drawing (using the comparative measurement method), to value and onto color. Students work and learn at their own pace, moving as quickly or as slowly as needed.

 

Classes are limited to 6 students so that each student receives personalized instruction. The curriculum incorporates a combination of teacher-directed and self-directed learning, with an emphasize on the latter.  Each class also contains a mixture of ages, from 8-18; and a mixture of skill levels, from beginner to advanced. This format fosters a natural and dynamic learning atmosphere, and encourages a sense of community.
