In
January of 2003, at the
encouragement of a friend, I began studying art under Mary Watkins. A year
and a half later, Mary
offered me a job teaching at 3 Muses School of Fine Arts (which I
enthusiastically accepted) and my first semester began January of 2005.
In
2007, Mary closed her school to paint full time and I began teaching my
students from my home studio, which I continue to do today. It's been a
wonderful journey and many thanks to everyone for their encouragement
and support!
for
those who care about these types of things: My goal when painting
(and in life) is to just "in-joy" the process and hopefully share some
of that joy and beauty with others. I find inspiration in so many
things that I haven't yet decided on a common link. But it is certain
that I have found inspiration in places I travel, especially in the
people and cultures. (There are about 100 paintings rolling around in
my head and never enough time!)
pet
peeve: Please don't ask me to explain my paintings. It's my desire
not to color your experience, thoughts and emotions towards the work
with my own. I like to leave a little room for the viewer. Everyone has
different perceptions, and for me, my reactions to art sometimes serve
as a mirror. Additionally, my true inspiration for my paintings is
often very personal, and something I usually keep for myself.
